What Will be Your Legacy? — Purpose-driven achiever

We are all familiar with the saying “Time waits for no man”. And maybe, like me, when you look back over your life you can see periods of time that were squandered. Those times have gone. We can never bring them back and there’s no point in us dwelling in the land of […]

I have an oil for that!

I was thinking today how lucky I was that I have the benefit of holistic treatment for myself and my family at my fingertips! Because I’m sort of (kidding) into healthy living😉 I know firsthand how determintal chemical based medications and treatment are and the toll it puts on the human body. Working in healthcare I see patients suffering and then suffer more from side effect of their medicines. I wish I could give them an oil! Don’t get me wrong oils are not the answer to all, but naturally treating my family for things like headaches, GI upset, pain and much more is so gratifying. I am a nurse, but I am also a doTERRA wellness advocate. If you’d like more information about essential oils message me! If you use essential oils and love them I’d love to hear from you! Tell me how you use them in your home.

The “Love-Bag” Challenge

Answering the call of The Lord can be so satisfying!

Though the Flower Fades

To regress a bit, last August I saw a post on Pinterest of each month of the year with a Scripture verse for each day. The suggestion on the top of each month was to write out the Scripture which would only take 10 to 15 minutes. Hence, I began on September 1, 2017, and have continued to this date. Another friend shared Scripture writing specifically for the Lenten Season which listed 40 Scriptures (from Ash Wednesday to Resurrection Sunday).

On March 5, 2017, the Scripture was Isaiah 58:6-7 (True and False Worship–the section heading in my Inspire Bible):

“No, this is the kind of fasting I want: Free those who are wrongfully  imprisoned; lighten the burden of those who work for you. Let the oppressed go free , and remove the chains that bind people. Share your food with the hungryand give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to…

Is Yoga Compatible with Christianity

After reading this blog today and having practiced yoga again for the past 6 months I am now feeling convicted (honestly I have been feeling convicted for the past few months).. fellow Christians what do you think? Read reference below.

As Christians we must guard our hearts and minds, ‘always watchful and of sober mind’ as Peter instructed the Church. Thank God for the Holy Spirit that guides us and directs our paths while we are here on this Earth! God knew all of this and it is not surprise to him that’s why his word instructs us in times likes this..

18′We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one cannot harm them. 19We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one. 20We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. 21Dear children, keep yourselves from idols,’ 1 John 5:18-21.

How Can A Name Be so Offensive

About 2 months ago I attended a nursing conference entitled, “Re-enchanting Medicine: A Conference on Medicine & Religion,” where the general topic of discussion was, well you guessed it, spiritualty in healthcare and the importance of incorporating it into a patient’s plan of care as was done when healthcare first came about. This conference was wonderful in the fact that it all persons (not just nurses) from all ethnic and religious backgrounds coming together for a common cause. I have since started a series at my job called, ‘The Care of the Decedent: End-of-Life Focus for Different Religions.’ This topic has brought much thought and enlightenment as I have really learned a lot about peoples religious and spiritual backgrounds and practices.

Upon studying these different religions and reflecting on my own spiritualty and studies I have found that all religions have more or less two things in common, there is a deity and a desire to be a good person. In Christianity, there is of course a deity as well, but the desire to be a good person is not the end result, nor can it be done by ones own will. Being a good person is not enough and cannot be accomplished without the help of God. We are imperfect people living in an imperfect world this is why we need the help of a perfect God. With the word God people are understanding and even loving, but once the name of Jesus is mentioned, people appear to be get very offended and do not want to hear of it again. Here in lies the trouble with that, Jesus is the solution to our imperfect problem. He is the perfect savior to cover all of our imperfections. You see if we do not honor him we are not honoring God. John 5:22-23, ‘The Father (God) in fact judges no one but has given all judgement to the son, so that all people will honor the Son (Jesus) just as they honor the Father. Anyone who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him.’

Keeping your Promise

Reading some scripture today God really spoke to my heart. It’s amazing that just reading his word can transform your mind! That’s why it says in the Bible that his word ‘all scripture is God-breathed’ 2 Timothy 3:16.

Last week I came to God in prayer and asked for a miracle in my life and also made a vow of my own to him. I have since broken that vow out of weakness and thus broken my promise to God. Even if it was unintentional it is still a broken promise. In the Old Testament times a verbal contract was as good as a written contract. ‘This is what The Lord commands, when a man makes a vow to The Lord he must not break his word but must do everything he said. Numbers 30:2. Just as he honors his promises to us we must do the same for him!

As I reflect..

Good morning! After I got back from a wonderful run this morning (while enjoying the beautiful sunrise) I started thinking.  I wanted to share those thoughts this morning. I started researching how to ‘successfully maintain a blog’ today and was looking for new ideas to keep my audience engaged, but also teach something useful as well as keeping a general purpose in mind. So..I got out my new favorite mug and sat down with my coffee and it occurred to me I was placing God on the back burner! You can just look at this picture and it says it all. My mug came like that, but nonetheless made the point that I have been starting my mornings without The Lord more times than not. I feel very convicted about this and thus have vowed to pray right when I get up before leaving my room if only for 5 minutes. I do pray many times on the way to work, but that intimate time first thing is so important. I was enjoying his creation all around me, but yet not acknowledging him like I should. Please be aware that though you may have the best intentions and a heart that does love, it is HOW you show that love that matters. Just like any relationship you have to water it to grow. Spend time with The Lord, it makes a huge difference for the rest of the day! Seek first the kingdom of God and all these things will be added to you, Matthew 6:33. Just like my blog says…Jesus, Coffee, and Oils😉

Time to pose

Happy Monday morning! Some thoughts this morning..I love to stay healthy with exercise, but I often get bored with doing the same thing over and over so I like to change it up every so often. My love of running has come back into my routine, but to avoid injury I started to do yoga on my days off and I love it!! It’s helped with relieving stress on the body and increasing flexibility. It has been a match made in heaven:-) Recently on YouTube I have found ‘yoga for runners.’ It focuses on those areas specific people who run or are athletic. Along with staying healthy, it prevents injuries! Not only will stretching help to prevent injuries for future runs, but it can help prevent on-the-job injuries for nurses😉 So it’s a win-win for me. What kind of exercise do you do?

UPDATE: Well with the updated research I found and spiritual implications such as they are for this practice I have chosen that it is not for me. It does not honor The Lord by doing it and I can do stretching without doing Yoga. Be warned Yoga is great physically, but does NOT mix with Christianity! It is Hinduism. The religions cannot be mixed. “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to one and despise the other.,” Matthew 6:24. (This verse is not just for money)

My Urban Garden

My very first garden box!! It’s not much to look at but I am hoping for some wonderful results. So far I have learned I need to plant from seedlings and not just throw the seeds in LOL. But at least the squash took anyway! List of goodies include: Basil, tomato, peppermint (mainly to keep pests away), jalapeno pepper, and summer squash..mmm. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome!
